William Cumpiano Raffles Hand Made Guitar for Charity

Posted on April 13, 2015

Holyoke, Massachusetts – In the world of guitar luthiery, William Cumpiano has achieved legendary status, both as a masterful and innovative builder of fine guitars, and as an inspiring teacher of the craft. A longtime friend of Alvarez, William is raffling one of his prized instruments to benefit La Esperanza, a non-profit community health organization.

“The dedication and commitment of this mostly volunteer group is impressive,” Says Cumpiano. “As is with so many other non-profits, they find it virtually impossible to get any public support for their overhead expenses, only just for programs. I hope this donation helps fill the void so they can continue the great work they’re doing.”

La Esperanza supports low-income Spanish-speaking women that have survived chronic diseases, and provides a long list of services including a ground-breaking methodology that William’s wife, Jeanette Cumpiano, pioneered: survivor mentorship. This means that a select group of survivors are trained in the latest self-care techniques and are able to go out into the field to aide others afflicted with similar conditions.

The Cumpiano steel-string guitar, to be raffled off on June 25, 2015 is made of Cocobolo rosewood, Honduras mahogany, Ceylon ebony and Sitka spruce. Its value is $5000. Raffle tickets can be obtained for $25. Go to www.laesperanzapv.org for more information or enter the raffle here: http://laesperanzapv.org/guitar-raffle/
